Rep. Nick LaLota (R-NY) admitted at a candidate forum this week that he cannot vote in his re-election race because he doesn’t actually live in the district.
LaLota is running against John Avlon (D).

“Reps. Tom Suozzi, Gregory Meeks and Dan Goldman are getting behind Avlon in the 1st congressional district, which covers the East End and other parts of Suffolk County.”

John Avlon Launches Congressional Bid
John Avlon (D), an author and former CNN political analyst, launched a bid Wednesday to oust freshman Rep. Nick LaLota (R-NY) in New York’s 1st congressional district, Newsday reports.
Playbook reports that Avlon has been advised for the last several months by former Rep. Steve Israel (D-NY), who had represented a neighboring district on Long Island.
