“Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) took every possible position on President Trump’s declaration of a national emergency to build a wall along the Mexican border,” the Washington Post reports.

“At first, Tillis stood defiantly against Trump’s usurpation of congressional prerogative, declaring in a Washington Post op-ed almost two weeks ago that approving the emergency would ‘justify providing the executive with more ways to bypass Congress.'”

“Then, over the last week, as political pressure mounted, Tillis moved into the undecided column in hope of a compromise with Trump… By Thursday afternoon, as 12 GOP colleagues broke ranks with the president, Tillis instead fell in line.”

Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) “isn’t the kind of Republican who typically challenges Donald Trump,” Politico reports.

“But now he’s a lead sponsor of a bill to protect special counsel Robert Mueller from interference by Trump — enraging conservatives and potentially risking the president’s ire. It’s the biggest gamble Tillis has taken as a Republican senator, but one he believes is philosophically consistent with how the GOP would be treating a Democratic president.”

Said Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC): “I can tell you conservatives in my district are not happy about it.”

Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) collapsed during a Washington, D.C., race Wednesday morning and has been taken away by ambulance, the AP reports.

“Tillis, 57, was seen on the ground being administered CPR by bystanders… Tillis at first appeared unconscious but was revived and breathing when taken away by ambulance from the ACLI Capital Challenge 3 Mile Team Race.”
