The law firm where former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist (I) works, gave $50,000 to a pro-Obama Super PAC, the Tampa Bay Times reports.
The head of the firm is “a big time Democratic donor” but the donation also “adds a layer to Crist’s political conversion, from Republican governor to independent candidate for U.S. Senate to talked about Democratic candidate for governor.”
In an interview with Bloomberg, Alec Baldwin reopened talk about running for New York City mayor:
“I have a contract to work for NBC through some point in 2013. We don’t know how long the season is going to be or how long we are going to work, but I do know that there is one more season to do next year, contractually. Right now I am just looking at finishing what is in front of me. It is something that I would love to do. The only thing that I can suggest is that two years, four years, is an eternity in an American political life. Let’s see what things are like in 2014 and maybe I can find some opportunity. I would love to do it because I have had a job that has been very good to me. I have been very lucky and very successful in a lot of ways, but I would still like to consider doing that because I do a lot of this kind of work now and I wonder what it would be like if I had a staff and budget to do it.”

A new Brown University Poll in Rhode Island finds Gov. Lincoln Chafee’s (I) approval rating is a dismal 22%, down from 27% in December.
Rep. David Cicilline’s (D-RI) approval rating is even worse at lowly 15%.
Former Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland (D) has not ruled out a rematch with current Gov. John Kasich (R), the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Said Strickland: “I haven’t ruled it out, haven’t ruled it in. I continue to be interested in, engaged in Ohio politics. I certainly want to keep my options open at this point.”
Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) told the Texas Tribune that he is leaning toward running for re-election in 2014 and possibly another stab at the White House two years after that.
“There are no term limits in Texas… If he does run, Perry could wind up serving a total of 18 years in
the governor’s office and he would complicate the plans of a host of
other statewide elected officials.”
In an interview with the Tampa Bay Times,
failed Florida gubernatorial candidate Alex Sink (D) floated the
possibility of a rematch against the man who defeated her, Florida Gov.
Rick Scott (R), who remains unpopular in the state.
Said
Sink: “Of course, I’ve thought about it. Many, many people are
encouraging me. Even strangers who I’ve never met before would like to
see me back.
A new Public Policy Polling survey in Florida finds Charlie Crist remains a popular figure in the state with a 51% to 34% favorability rating and if he were to run as a Democrat to reclaim his old office against Gov. Rick Scott (R) he would lead by 13 points at 51% to 38%.
In a hypothetical rematch of last year’s race, Alex Sink (D) would lead Scott 52% to 41%.
