Trump Skipping Bipartisan Lunch

March 8, 2020 · 6:12 pm ET · Leave a Comment

Playbook: “President Trump is scheduled to skip the annual St. Patrick’s Day lunch in the Capitol this Thursday, one of Washington’s oldest time-honored bipartisan traditions, Hill sources tell us. This is the first time a president has skipped the lunch since 2003, when George W. Bush sat it out days before the United States invaded Iraq.”

“This luncheon is traditionally hosted by the speaker of the House — this year, that’s Nancy Pelosi. The taoiseach of Ireland travels to the U.S. each year for a visit around the lunch.”
