Samuel Alito Assured Kennedy He Respected Roe v. Wade

Justice Samuel Alito, who was seeking Senate confirmation for his nomination to the Supreme Court, assured Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-MA) — who memorialized the conversation in his private diary — that he respected the legal precedent of Roe v. Wade, the 1973 court decision that legalized abortion, the New York Times reports.

Kennedy still wasn’t convinced and voted against Alito’s confirmation.
