Yellen Says Debt Stand Off Risks Global ‘Calamity’

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen told the Associated Press that demands by House Republicans for spending cuts in return for backing an increase in the debt limit are “a very irresponsible thing to do” and risk creating a “self-imposed calamity” for the global economy.
