Rep. Tom Emmer (R-MN) got 78 votes in the first secret ballot of House Republicans for speaker, not enough for a majority of the conference.
Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX) was eliminated and a second ballot is underway.
And this is interesting: In the first ballot, five people voted for people not running and there was one present.
