“President Biden has asserted executive privilege over the audio of his two-day interview with the special counsel investigating his handling of classified documents, the Justice Department told Congress Thursday, as Republicans threatened to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt for refusing to relinquish the recordings,” the Wall Street Journal reports.
Politico: “Garland was facing the possibility of being held in contempt of Congress for refusing to turn over the recordings in the face of subpoenas from the House Judiciary Committee and the House Oversight and Accountability Committee. Biden’s action effectively precludes any criminal prosecution of Garland for failing to comply with the subpoenas.”
