El Salvador’s Bukele Meets Trump in D.C.

“President Nayib Bukele of El Salvador is heading to Washington on Monday to meet with US President Donald Trump, solidifying his central role in the U.S. president’s mass deportation efforts,” Semafor reports.

“Over the last few months, the Trump administration has sent hundreds of alleged gang members to a notorious prison in El Salvador, though reportedly a large slice of them have no criminal record.”

New York Times: “In Mr. Bukele, who has referred to himself as the world’s ‘coolest dictator,’ Mr. Trump has found a willing partner in a plan for deportations with little or no due process.”
