Nine House Republicans Vote for Obamacare Subsidies

Punchbowl News: “Nine House Republicans crossed party lines and voted to discharge House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries’ resolution to extend the Obamacare premium subsidies for three years…”

“This was a preliminary step that sets up a final vote on passing the three-year extension of the Obamacare subsidies on Thursday. Then it will be up to the Senate.”

“This isn’t a great result for the House GOP leadership. And it shows that there is, in fact, a somewhat healthy coalition on the Republican side to extend the subsidies if there’s a deal in the Senate.”

“It’s a big win for Jeffries, who held the House Democratic Caucus together against GOP discharge petitions, eventually winning support for his three-year extension. Senate Republicans and Democrats have been negotiating a compromise, but they have not gotten a deal quite yet.”
