September 4, 2026 at 9:09 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“House Democrats’ top election leader has a message for states ahead of the midterms: count faster,” Politico reports.

“The unemployment rate stayed steady at 4.1%. That leaves it at a historically low level that indicates the labor market remains generally healthy.”

September 4, 2026 at 8:49 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Punchbowl News: “The House Democratic Caucus is going to change its rules to punish those members who don’t show up for votes or skimp out on DCCC dues. Most Democrats agree that it’s not sustainable to have nearly 40% of the caucus paying less than 25% of their dues requirement – or dozens give nothing at all.”

Italy’s Meloni Pays a Price for Losing Far-Right Label

September 4, 2026 at 8:41 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“A mark of Giorgia Meloni’s success is how little the word ‘fascism’ is mentioned in association with her now, if ever,” Bloomberg reports.

“Her record speaks for itself. She presides over Italy’s longest-serving government since the republic was founded after World War II.”

“Having moved away from the political fringes, outmaneuvered rivals and established herself firmly in the mainstream as a G7 veteran, Meloni must now face the reckoning that comes from being, well, successful and part of the establishment.”

“Organizers asked them to keep the day’s speakers anonymous. Then came remarks from the person who convened them: former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.”

“The purpose of the Aug. 6 gathering was to war-game ways to protect election integrity… Clinton gave opening remarks and then played largely an observational role as everyone broke into two teams to run through hypothetical scenarios of potential chaos around elections and how they’d respond.”

The Risk of Russian Sabotage in Europe

September 4, 2026 at 7:21 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“Russia’s failed drone attack on a German airport was part of a dangerous pattern of escalation that, experts and officials said, risks sparking an open confrontation with NATO — whether the Kremlin wants it or not,” the New York Times reports.

“German officials declared this week that the Russian state was behind the attack, in which one explosive drone hit a parked Ukrainian cargo plane and another appeared to collide with a plane taking off. Both drones failed to detonate. If successful, the attack could have killed or maimed people and led to unpredictable consequences, officials said.”

“It was the most dramatic in a spate of such attacks that includes plots to place incendiary devices aboard DHL cargo planes, blow up railroad tracks in Poland, and burn down warehouses and shopping centers all over Europe.”

September 4, 2026 at 7:04 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“Other deleted posts show Lawrence writing ‘f**k’ the nuclear-family home and calling it an ‘isolating, individualistic, violent way of organizing society,’ envisioning ‘a world of free and open migration,’ and calling to ‘Abolish the Senate.'”
