July 16, 2025 at 6:29 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Trump claimed, without providing specifics, that Schiff had misstated which home he used as a primary residence, helping him secure a cheaper mortgage.

Said Trump: “I would love to see him brought to justice.”

However, the Los Angeles Times reports a memo from Fannie Mae investigators to the Trump-appointed director of the U.S. Federal Housing Finance Agency “does not accuse Schiff of mortgage fraud.”

Democrats See an Opening on Epstein

July 16, 2025 at 6:18 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“Democrats are stoking the online flames of the Jeffrey Epstein controversy. Internal memos and polling suggest the issue is breaking through to voters,” Politico reports.

“Interviews with a dozen Democratic elected officials, strategists and aides cast the controversy as helpful not only in dividing Trump’s base but also illustrating the president’s flip-flopping tendencies, even on his core campaign issues. Democrats argued they can tie the episode into a larger narrative about Trump’s other broken campaign promises.”

“Internal Democratic polling found that 70 percent of voters said law enforcement is withholding information about powerful people connected to Epstein, including 61 percent of Trump voters.”

Axios: “The fallout over the Epstein case continues to haunt Trump’s team, 10 days after DOJ’s about-face announcement that it wouldn’t disclose any more details about Epstein, that he had no client list, and that he’d killed himself in prison and wasn’t murdered.”

“Adelita Grijalva on Tuesday won the Democratic nomination for the U.S. House seat her father held until his death in March, emerging by a wide margin from a contested Arizona primary that highlighted broader intraparty divisions over age, experience and dynastic politics,” the Washington Post reports.

Axios: “The Democratic primary victory all but assures she’ll win the U.S. House seat her father held for more than two decades.”

July 16, 2025 at 5:41 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Zohran Mamdani told an influential group of business leaders that he would not use the phrase “globalize the intifada,” which has been seen as a call to violence against Jews, and would “discourage” others from doing so, the New York Times reports.

“The phrase has been a rallying cry among opponents of the war in Gaza, and Mr. Mamdani, an ardent critic of Israel’s military operations, had refused to condemn its use during the Democratic primary race that he won in June.”

Bond Traders Boost Bearish Bets

July 15, 2025 at 8:29 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“A bearish tone is taking hold in the Treasury market amid worries over the risk of tariff-fueled inflation and increased government spending in some of the world’s biggest economies,” Bloomberg reports.

“The 30-year Treasury yield climbed above 5% for the first time since early June, and there were large flows seen in options bets costing a combined premium of about $10 million that target a jump to around 5.3% within roughly five weeks. The MAGA Blowup Over Pam Bondi

July 15, 2025 at 7:01 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Politico: “The attorney general has long tried to establish herself as one of Donald Trump’s most faithful allies: She was part of his defense team during his first impeachment, she helped him challenge his 2020 election loss and she stood by his side during his New York hush money trial.”

“But many of Trump’s very online MAGA supporters have always distrusted Bondi. Far-right influencers haven’t forgotten that she did not vocally defend the people who attacked the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. They view her career in Florida politics as tainted by her links to the GOP establishment, especially the state’s former governor, Jeb Bush. As a private lawyer, she even represented Pfizer, a company that some elements of Trump’s base view with suspicion due to its Covid-19 vaccine.”
