J.R. Majewski (R) on Saturday suspended his campaign for Ohio’s 9th congressional district, the Toledo Blade reports.

Said Majewski: “While I know I would win, and have a great shot in the general election now that my record has been cleared, it is inevitable that the Deep State will do whatever it takes to fight against me.”

Local Republicans scolded Majewski this week “for his reprehensible, insensitive, uncaring, and inappropriate remarks” after calling Special Olympics athletes “fucking retarded.”

Politico: “His departure, just two weeks before the March 19 primary, is welcome news for the House Republicans leaders who have maneuvered behind the scenes to nudge him out of the primary out of fear he would lose the general election to Democratic Rep. Marcy Kaptur.”

J.R. Majewski (R), who was dogged by reports that he contradicted his public claims about service in the military, announced he is running for Ohio’s deep-red 9th Congressional District after losing there in the midterm elections, the Washington Examiner reports.

Republicans are cancelling all ad buys — and effectively conceding — the campaign to unseat Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-OH), Axios reports.

Challenger J.R. Majewski’s (R) January 6 baggage and lying about military service have apparently sunk his political prospects.

This was a very winnable race for Republicans if not for an unvetted, extremist candidate.
