Tudor Dixon Takes Aim at ‘Single Working Women’

October 15, 2022 at 12:29 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Michigan gubernatorial candidate Tudor Dixon (R) told a crowd Friday afternoon that single working women in Michigan are living a “lonely life” — and that’s exactly what Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) wants, the Michigan Advance reports.

Said Dixon: “Families look all different ways. They’re the ones telling me that on a regular basis, but apparently, they’re refusing to see one dynamic here. A lot of people want to have families. This state, we don’t have support from the governor for families unless they look exactly the way she wants.”

She added: “And you know what that looks like these days? Looks like single moms — no, not single moms. Single women working. That’s like, her dream for women. Single women working. Last time I checked, that was a pretty lonely life.”

Blake Masters Already Claiming Election Will Be Stolen

October 15, 2022 at 7:47 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“In his campaign to unseat Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ), Republican Blake Masters has consistently amplified skepticism and conspiracy theories surrounding the outcome of the 2020 presidential election,” the Daily Beast reports.

“But during the final stretch of his own 2022 race, Masters is starting to cast doubt on the outcome of this election—before the votes are even counted.”

Raphael Warnock and Herschel Walker Debate

October 14, 2022 at 6:45 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Sen. Raphael Warnock (D) and challenger Herschel Walker (R) will square off for the first and only time tonight in Savannah.

Walker has tried to lower expectations, saying that he’s just a “country boy” who isn’t smart while noting that Warnock is a preacher. But Walker himself is a motivational speaker, so he has a lot of experience speaking to an audience.

The debate will be streamed live on FOX 5 Atlanta at 7 p.m. ET.

Republicans Were Waiting for Herschel Walker Bombshells

October 14, 2022 at 3:42 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“Since Herschel Walker launched his bid for Senate last year, Georgia voters have learned about his ex-wife’s allegations of domestic violence, his multiple children born out of wedlock and, most recently, assertions from a former girlfriend that he paid for one abortion and urged her to end a second pregnancy, while claiming to oppose abortion,” the New York Times reports.

“Mr. Walker, a former football star and first-time candidate, has denied the latest claim and expressed shock about what he has cast as a stunning partisan broadside. But some Republicans close to him were hardly surprised: They had been discussing the arrival of this moment with the candidate for months.”

Candidate Publishes Sex Tape to Gain Attention

October 14, 2022 at 2:17 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“In a grunt for attention, third-party Congressional candidate Mike Itkis has released a sex tape to highlight his sex positive campaign platform,” City & State reports.

“The 53-year-old Army cyber operations officer is bound to lose to Rep. Jerry Nadler in Manhattan’s 12th Congressional District. But he posted the 13 minute video to a popular online porn site of him having sex with porn performer Nicole Sage as ‘a conversation piece.'”

Said Itkis’s Republican opponent: “You gotta do what you gotta do. The media ignores everybody that’s not a Democrat in the city.”

The Daily Beast obtained Herschel Walker’s (R) child support agreement for his youngest son, which shows that he pays $3,500 a month — he claims a net worth between $29 million and $62 million — and has no visitation rights.

“We shared the details with five experienced New York family lawyers. Their verdict was unanimous: The mother got a raw deal.”

Why Are Voters Pushing Back on the Historical Trend?

October 14, 2022 at 1:00 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

James Carville told Vanity Fair that given the current political environment, Democrats wouldn’t ordinarily stand a chance in 2022.

Said Carville: “You have an election with ‘wrong track’ for the country at 65%, presidential approval at 41% — all that is a guaranteed landslide for Republicans. Why has this electorate been resisting this and resisting it hard? That’s the question that we should be asking ourselves.”

Ad Spending Is Off the Charts in Georgia

October 14, 2022 at 11:58 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

The Cook Political Report notes that $128.5 million has been spent so far in the U.S. Senate race in Georgia — “a number that could rise exponentially given the increasing likelihood this race might go into overtime with a December 6 runoff.”

Democratic Lead with Hispanic Voters Shrinks

October 14, 2022 at 11:05 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“Hispanic voters favor Democrats in November’s congressional elections, but by a smaller margin than four years ago, with inflation concerns and President Biden’s middling approval helping Republicans hold onto gains made in 2020,” a Washington Post-Ipsos poll finds.

“Overall, the Post-Ipsos poll finds 63 percent of Hispanic registered voters would support Democrats for Congress if the election were held today, while 36 percent support Republicans. Democrats’ 27-point advantage is similar to Biden’s support in 2020 but smaller than Democrats’ roughly 40-point advantages in 2018 and 2016 in exit polls and validated voter surveys.”

The Zigzag Midterm

October 14, 2022 at 11:00 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Charlie Cook: “A diagram of the direction of the 2022 campaign would look like a zigzag. Democrats faced near gale-force headwinds into June, but that moderated considerably in the first half of the summer, with the most optimistic of Democrats having visions of retaining majorities in both the House and the Senate.”

“In recent weeks, though, those winds in Democrats’ faces have partially returned, almost ensuring that the party will lose its House majority and turning the Senate into something closer to a fair fight, with Democrats still possessing a slight edge. With Vice President Kamala Harris presiding over the Senate, no net change works out just fine for Democrats; Republicans have to actually gain a seat in order to reach majority status.”

Polls Suggest Slight Shift Away from Herschel Walker

October 14, 2022 at 10:35 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Nate Cohn: “In today’s highly polarized political climate, it takes a lot for a scandal to make a big difference in a high-stakes election.”

“But if the latest polls are any indication, the recent allegations against Herschel Walker, the Republican Senate candidate in Georgia, might be big enough not only to decide his race but also control of the Senate.”

“Compared with previous polling, the latest surveys show him slipping by an average of about 2.5 percentage points since an ex-girlfriend said he paid her for an abortion she had in 2009. Mr. Walker has made opposition to abortion a cornerstone of his campaign and has denied the woman’s account.”

Democratic Open Seats Are the Big GOP Advantage

October 14, 2022 at 10:00 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

David Wasserman: “We’ve spent a lot of time this cycle talking about why Republicans’ modest gains from redistricting are a valuable ‘insurance policy’ in the fluid 2022 House race. But an arguably bigger GOP advantage in the homestretch is the high number of vulnerable Democratic open seats — a legacy of the bleak outlook in late 2021 that prompted many Democrats in swing seats to head for the exits.”

“It’s almost always easier to pick up an open seat than defeat an incumbent — not just because incumbents have more well-established personal brands, but because open seats usually feature a more level financial playing field.”
