Washington Post: “In one alleged incident, during a fundraising trip to South Florida in early 2022, Matt Schlapp was accused of stripping to his underwear and rubbing against another person without his consent, according to the filing. In 2017, at a CPAC after-party, Schlapp attempted to kiss an employee against his wishes, the lawsuit claims.”
“In both cases, according to the suit, the alleged victims reported the unwanted advances to staffers at CPAC’s parent organization, the American Conservative Union, but no action was taken.”

Hannah Giles, the CEO of conservative nonprofit Project Veritas, announced her resignation “effective immediately” on Monday, saying she’d unwittingly “stepped into an unsalvageable mess” upon taking the job earlier this year, the Daily Beast reports.

A local chapter of Moms for Liberty is breaking away from the national organization after the husband of one of its co-founders was accused of rape, the News-Item reports.
Chirstian Ziegler, Florida’s Republican chairman and husband of Moms for Liberty co-founder Bridget Ziegler, was accused of rape by a woman who had previously had a “longstanding consensual three-way sexual relationship” with the Zieglers.
Said the chair of the local Pennsylvania group: “Our values are not aligning with the national organization.”

More Sexual Misconduct Claimed Against CPAC Chair
“A senior board member of the parent organization behind the prominent Conservative Political Action Conference who resigned on Friday urged an independent investigation into additional allegations of sexual misconduct against Chairman Matt Schlapp,” the Washington Post reports.
“Earlier this year, Schlapp was sued for alleged sexual battery and defamation by a Republican campaign operative who claimed that the CPAC leader groped his crotch during a campaign trip last fall. Schlapp has denied the claim.”
“In addition to that lawsuit, some board members and staffers have been told about other incidents involving Schlapp, 55, and two younger men, multiple people with direct knowledge of the situation said.”

“The vice chair of the Conservative Political Action Coalition has resigned from his longtime position on the organization’s board and is calling for investigations into the group’s top leader and its financial practices, among other issues,” Politico reports.
“Charlie Gerow, an attorney and communications executive who has served on the board of CPAC and its parent organization, the American Conservative Union, for nearly two decades, submitted his letter of resignation on Friday.”
