Watching ICE

May 12, 2025 at 5:49 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Jessica Yellin: “I’ve been watching videos that show ICE agents — some seemingly unidentified, others in military style gear — grabbing people off the streets or out of their backyards with force, even in communities that have explicitly rejected these policies. In some cases, they’ve reportedly done this without asking for documentation or showing a warrant. These aren’t isolated incidents; they’re happening in neighborhoods just like yours and mine. Many of those targeted have no criminal record. These detentions raise serious questions about due process.”

“I pulled some of these accounts together on my Instagram because I think we need to see this. You can watch them here. These stories aren’t getting amplified by the algorithms, so if you feel this matters, please engage — like, share, comment. It makes a difference.”

May 12, 2025 at 11:09 am EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“The Trump administration spent at least $21 million transporting migrants to Guantanamo Bay on military aircraft between January 20 and April 8,” NBC News reports.

“The naval base there currently holds 32 migrants, a tiny fraction of the 30,000 that President Donald Trump promised. Guantanamo has held a total of just under 500 migrants since Trump announced the effort in January, and it has never held more than 200 at any one time. Many of the migrants flown there are believed to have been flown back to the U.S.”

May 6, 2025 at 4:16 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“The documents do not indicate how officials in Kyiv responded to the late-January proposal… that called for sending third-country nationals to Ukraine amid Russia’s deadly, devastating invasion — and despite the absence of a functioning airport there due to continual air attacks.”

Spy Agencies Reject Trump’s Justification for Deportations

May 5, 2025 at 9:16 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“A newly declassified memo released on Monday confirms that U.S. intelligence agencies rejected a key claim President Trump put forth to justify invoking a wartime statute to summarily deport Venezuelans to a prison in El Salvador,” the New York Times reports.

“The memo states that spy agencies do not believe that the administration of Venezuela’s president, Nicolás Maduro, controls a criminal gang, Tren de Aragua. That determination contradicts what Mr. Trump asserted when he invoked the deportation law, the Alien Enemies Act.”

May 3, 2025 at 3:35 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“President Donald Trump had a meltdown Saturday after a federal judge banned him from using a centuries-old wartime act to deport men without due process,” the Daily Beast reports.

Wrote Trump: “Can it be so that Judges aren’t allowing the USA to Deport Criminals, including Murderers, out of our Country and back to where they came from? If this is so, our Country, as we know it, is finished!”
