“The Supreme Court said it would rule on the Obama administration’s stalled plan to defer deportation of more than four million illegal immigrants, setting the stage for a ruling on presidential powers in June,” the Wall Street Journal reports.
“With Congress deadlocked over an immigration overhaul, President Obama in November 2014 cited his executive authority in making changes in immigration policy to give a temporary reprieve to illegal immigrants whose children hold U.S. citizenship or permanent residency. The plan sought to prioritize removal of serious criminals while allowing parents of children to work without fear of deportation.”
