“They’ve called each other names. They’ve mocked, belittled, skewered and slimed. And now that oddest of couples — Donald Trump and Fox News — is engaged in a tit-for-tat feud like none seen in the annals of modern American politics,” the Washington Post reports.
New York Times: “Neither Fox News nor Mr. Trump showed any indication of budging on Wednesday. That was in spite of furious discussions inside the network, inside the campaign, and in direct and indirect communications between the two sides. The talks even included a conversation between Mr. Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, and the influential Fox News chairman, Roger Ailes, who contacted her to gauge Mr. Trump’s seriousness but, network officials said, did not seek to change his mind.”
Politico: “Trump’s decision will create the unprecedented spectacle of a major party front-runner counter-programming against his own party’s presidential debate with a rival event in the same city on the eve of the Iowa caucuses.”
