“Emerging from a meeting in Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s office Tuesday, top Republican senators on the Senate Judiciary Committee said there will be no confirmation hearings on a Supreme Court nominee,” CNN reports.
Said Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX): “We believe the American people need to decide who is going to make this appointment rather than a lame-duck president.”
Washington Post: “McConnell and Republicans on the committee additionally said they would not even hold face-to-face meetings with the nominee, the most basic traditional courtesy that every member of the committee and most rank-and-file senators give to the prospective justice.”
