Amy Walter: “Even before the release of the audio tape, Trump was a decided underdog. He had a very narrow path to 270 that required incredible discipline, some luck and a Clinton fumble. Today, that path is almost non-existent. Yes, the polling may once again tighten. But, it’s hard to see it getting back to a dead-heat, especially since Trump seems to have decided to go scorched-earth instead of strategic. The only question now is if he can keep it competitive enough to help ensure his down-ballot colleagues don’t get washed out as well.”
