While some have have speculated that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) would not hold a Senate trial if President Trump were impeached by the House, he told NPR that the Senate would indeed hold a trial.
He added that he thought Democrats were making a political mistake and predicted it would energize the Republican base and turn off moderate voters.
