Senate Reaches Deal to Avoid Witnesses In Trial

The Senate reached a deal to enter Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler’s (R-WA) statement into the record of former President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial in lieu of calling witnesses.

Herrera Beutler confirmed on Friday night House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) told her that former president Donald Trump had sided with the mob during a phone call as the Jan. 6 Capitol attack unfolded.

The House managers and Trump defense team are now making closing arguments. The trial should end later this afternoon.
