The U.S. Senate voted to acquit former President Donald Trump who was impeached by the U.S. House of Representatives for inciting an insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.
The vote was 57 to 43, falling short of the two-thirds need to convict.
The Republicans voting with Democrats to say Trump was guilty of the charges: Richard Burr, Bill Cassidy, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, Mitt Romney, Ben Sasse and Pat Toomey.
