Bush Attorney General Says Trump Could Be Prosecuted

Former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales told CNN that Donald Trump could be prosecuted for a number of crimes over the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol.

Said Gonzales: “He knew the crowd was dangerous. He encouraged the crowd to go to the Capitol. And he knew the crowd was armed. And he knew the purpose of what was going on in Congress, which is to certify the Electoral College count. I think one might make the argument that there’s certainly the beginnings of a case for seditious conspiracy, obstruction of Congress.”

He added:”So there are some things here that I think certainly Merrick Garland is going to look at in addition to witness tampering, that’s something that’s also a crime. So there’s there is a lot there.”
