Los Angeles City Council President Nury Martinez stepped down from her powerful position Monday morning, a day after incendiary leaked audio showed she and two other council members made racist remarks, the Los Angeles Times reports.
It appears that she will remain on the 15-member legislative body.

Goddard earned degrees from Vassar College and Harvard University. He lives in New York with his wife and three sons.
