Congress Nears Deal to Expand Child Tax Credit

Punchbowl News: Congress’ top tax writers are on the brink of a deal to expand the child tax credit and revive some lapsed tax breaks for businesses.”

“Sources close to the process say the package is 90% finished. House Ways and Means Committee Chair Jason Smith (R-MO) and Senate Finance Committee Chair Ron Wyden (D-OR) have led the negotiations.”

“Wyden told us he wants to get this passed before the filing season so that families can get benefits now. That would mean retroactively boosting the child tax credit for 2023.”
