“Joe Biden’s trip to North Carolina on Thursday is an official White House visit, but the underlying politics are clear: Democrats think Biden can win the state back from Republicans in 2024,” The Messenger reports.
“It’s a reach, top Democrats told the Messenger – but it may be Biden’s best and perhaps only chance to expand the map in 2024. Trump won the state by about 1.5 percentage points in 2020. But Democrats think North Carolina could break their way because of a sizable and growing Black population, cities burgeoning with college-educated voters, and increased antipathy for former President Donald Trump from more traditional Republicans.”
“Those factors all contributed to a growing belief inside Biden’s Wilmington headquarters and top Democratic circles that the president can notch a major victory in the state.”
