One reason Kamala Harris’s debate performance this week was so well received was that it fit perfectly into the way reporters cover such events.

Had Harris responded to each question from the moderators with her “five point plan” on how to fix whatever problem was being raised, reporters would feel the need to be “neutral” in their coverage.
