GOP Senator Pushes Huge Increase in Child Tax Credit

“Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) is making a big opening bid in the 2025 tax battle, calling for the child tax credit to increase from a maximum of $2,000 to $5,000 per kid,” Axios reports.

“Such a plan could cost $2 trillion to $3 trillion over 10 years. That complicates the math for incoming Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) and House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), who have thin margins to extend President-elect Trump’s signature tax bill.”
