U.S. Economy Shrank in First Quarter

April 30, 2025 · 8:36 am ET · Leave a Comment

“The U.S. economy contracted in the first three months of 2025, fueling recession fears at the start of President Donald Trump’s second term in office as he wages a potentially costly trade war,” CNBC reports.

Bloomberg: “Inflation-adjusted gross domestic product decreased an annualized 0.3% in the first quarter, well below average growth of about 3% in the prior two years.”

Wall Street Journal: “The U.S. economy entered the year on a strong footing: It grew at a steady pace in 2024 and inflation continued to ease. The unemployment rate held at 4.1%.”
