House Clears Procedural Hurdle on Trump’s Agenda

“House Republican leaders overcame a critical hurdle Thursday to advance President Donald Trump’s massive tax and immigration legislation, paving the way to pass the legislation in the morning,” the Washington Post reports.

“All but one Republican voted to clear the procedural hurdle, known as a rule, that outlines the parameters for debate ahead of a final passage vote. Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) confidently declared Trump and GOP leaders notched enough votes throughout Wednesday and early Thursday to send the president’s agenda to his desk before July 4.”

Punchbowl News: “The House held back-to-back votes open for a combined 14 hours, as Johnson, his leadership team, Trump and senior administration officials furiously whipped holdout GOP lawmakers to back the $3.3 trillion package.”

Goddard spent more than a decade as managing director and chief operating officer of a prominent investment firm in New York City. Previously, he was a policy adviser to a U.S. Senator and Governor.
