“Traders on at least one prediction market late Friday night appeared to anticipate a rising chance that Venezuela’s Nicolás Maduro would be ousted this month,” the Wall Street Journal reports.
“The likelihood that he would be out of power by Jan. 31 climbed shortly before 10 p.m. Eastern time Friday after hovering around 5% to 6% for most of a week on the Polymarket betting site, its website shows.”
“Just before 10 p.m. Friday, that chance had ticked up to 8.5% and hit 12.5% just before 1 a.m. Saturday before beginning a steady climb at 1:15 a.m.”
