“President Trump is planning to make his first visit to a farm-belt state since his administration announced a $12 billion package aimed at steadying the fortunes of struggling American farmers, who have been dealing with tariffs, lower grain prices and higher costs,” the Wall Street Journal reports.
“A glut of corn and soybeans, following several years of massive harvests, has depressed prices for many U.S. farmers. Meanwhile, the costs for key items such as fertilizer and crop seeds have risen, squeezing farmers’ bottom lines.”
