“A deal for funding the Department of Homeland Security is growing further out of reach,” Punchbowl News reports.
“With time running out, Senate Majority Leader John Thune is trying to maximize the pressure on Senate Democrats to strike a compromise or agree to another short-term funding patch. Thune on Thursday threatened to cancel the Presidents Day recess and slammed Democrats’ updated list of demands as unrealistic.”
Said Thune, of Democrats: “It seems like they are posturing themselves in such a way that any sort of middle ground is virtually impossible to find — at least right now.”
