“Less than three months ago, John Cornyn was championing a bill to rename a highway after President Trump,” the Wall Street Journal reports.
“Now the senior Republican senator from Texas is threatening to block Trump’s nominees.”
“And he says the fun is just beginning. ‘You ain’t seen nothing yet,’ Cornyn joked to reporters last week. He had just leveraged his vote on two ambassador nominees in an effort to release billions of dollars in U.S. funding for AIDS treatments in Africa.”
The problem with turning loyal Republicans into lame ducks is that they no longer have much reason to remain loyal.
