Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) announced early this morning that she will oppose Todd Blanche’s nomination for attorney general, leaving the nomination with virtually no margin for error.
With Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) still absent from the Senate while recovering from a fall, Blanche can afford to lose only one more Republican vote.
And Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) remains a major question mark. He has yet to commit to supporting Blanche and has raised many of the same concerns cited by Murkowski.
Blanche’s confirmation now appears to hinge on Cassidy — or McConnell returning to Washington in time to vote.
Will Todd Blanch be confirmed as Attorney General?
