Trump Faces the Sting of a Media Boycott

September 21, 2026 at 9:59 pm ET By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“For President Trump, this is the tree-falls-in-the-forest moment of his administration. If the most television-addicted president in history suddenly finds the cameras missing, is he really still president? Not the kind he has been, anyway,” the New York Times reports.

“Mr. Trump, for whom television is better than any narcotic, finds himself for the first time at least partially deprived of the major networks that have covered nearly every movement and utterance he has made for more than a decade. No longer can he snap his fingers and appear live in millions of homes. No longer does he totally dominate the airwaves.”

Deadline: Networks halt TV pool coverage of Trump in protest of president’s ban on CNN.

Iran’s President to Make His Case to the World

September 21, 2026 at 9:56 pm ET By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“When a small Iranian delegation, led by the country’s president, travels to New York this week, its members will be free to attend the United Nations General Assembly—but not to go for a walk in Central Park or shop on Fifth Avenue without permission. Only a trip down the block from their Manhattan hotel to the UN building is allowed,” the Wall Street Journal reports.

“The U.S. has long imposed restrictions on Tehran’s diplomats, but the circumstances of the Iranian delegation are particularly unusual this year as they visit an America their country is fighting in a nearly seven-month-old war.”

“There is little precedent for the U.S. to host national leaders from a country at war with Washington, even during the UN General Assembly, when thousands of foreign officials converge on New York.”

Bloomberg: Trump “probably” open to meeting Iran’s Pezeshkian.

September 21, 2026 at 8:49 pm ET By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is erasing immigrants with final deportation orders from a searchable online database, leaving families and attorneys in the dark as they try to find out where someone has been taken,” the Washington Post reports.

“The new policy also bars immigration officers from sharing information about a detainee’s location with their attorneys or relatives by phone.”

The GOP’s War for Eyeballs

September 21, 2026 at 8:40 pm ET By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“Republicans are starting to trounce Democrats in political spending across the Senate map, and that advantage is now showing up in one of the metrics campaigns care about most: impressions,” Axios reports.

“Money matters in a campaign’s closing weeks, but what campaigns are ultimately buying is voters’ attention — and the price varies, depending on who is buying and when they place their ads.”

CNN: Republicans are set to outspend Democrats on the air in 8 out of 9 close Senate races.

Trump Says Mamdani Has ‘Great Potential’

September 21, 2026 at 8:38 pm ET By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“President Trump offered rare praise for New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D), saying he has ‘great potential,'” NewsNation reports.

Said Trump: “No, I certainly hope he will be a great mayor. You have to understand — I want what’s good for New York. I want what’s good for the country.”

He added: “So, if I had a choice of having him be a bad mayor or horrible mayor, I don’t want that. I want him to be a great mayor, and he’s certainly got potential and great potential.”

Financial Times: Trump and Mamdani strike friendly tone in New York City housing talks.

Bill Pulte Scrutinized Mortgages of Todd Blanche

September 21, 2026 at 8:29 pm ET By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“When housing chief Bill Pulte examined the mortgages of President Trump’s political adversaries last year, he also looked at those of Attorney General Todd Blanche, according to people familiar with the matter,” the Wall Street Journal reports.

“That effort occurred as Pulte clashed with Blanche, who was then the No. 2 official at the Justice Department, over investigations related to the adversaries’ mortgage records.”

“Some officials believed Pulte had been trying to collect information on Blanche and others to undermine them and pressure them to more quickly pursue the investigations, the people said.”

Trump Proposes $10B Middle East Infrastructure Project

September 21, 2026 at 7:20 pm ET By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Wall Street Journal: “Under the initiative—called Partnership for Allied Trust and Construction, or Pact—the U.S. would then seek a matching $5 billion contribution from eight Middle Eastern partners to help countries in the region rebuild energy infrastructure battered in the Iran war.”

“The plain aims to reduce the region’s reliance on the Strait of Hormuz to transport oil and gas. It’s unclear when, or even if, other countries will sign on.”

Appeals Court Reinstates Missouri House Map

September 21, 2026 at 6:13 pm ET By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“A federal appeals court reinstated Missouri Republicans’ 7-1 House map to be used in time for the November elections, delivering a boost for several GOP candidates who wanted a more favorable map for the party to be used in the midterm elections,” The Hill reports.

“The ruling offers a temporary victory for Republicans who are looking to add pickup opportunities in the House ahead of November, though the decision is all but certain to be appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court.”

Mamdani Hosts Trump at Gracie Mansion

September 21, 2026 at 6:06 pm ET By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani hosted President Donald Trump on Monday at Gracie Mansion, one of the president’s ‘favorite places in the World’ and the mayor’s official residence, as the two leaders continued a cordial relationship despite their sharp political differences,” the Washington Post reports.

“It was their third meeting and the first on the mayor’s turf since he won election in November. Although Trump has derided Mamdani as a ‘communist’ and warned that he would tear New York apart, the president has also appeared charmed by the 34-year-old mayor.”

“The meeting was especially unusual for taking place just weeks ahead of midterm elections in which Trump has tried to rally his base by warning it about left-wing candidates.”

“The president raised the matter as recently as last month, as his frustrations with media coverage of his second term escalated, one of the officials said. Some of Trump’s advisers have cautioned against the move, the people said.”

UN Tightens Security After Trump’s 2025 Incidents

September 21, 2026 at 4:50 pm ET By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“The defining moment of 2025’s gathering of world leaders at the United Nations may have been Donald Trump’s accusation of ‘sabotage’ after his teleprompter blinked out and an escalator stalled while he was on it,” Bloomberg reports.

“Now the world body is working overtime to make sure nothing similar happens again to distract from its focus on solving the world’s problems this week.”

Beshear Still Has Concerns About McConnell

September 21, 2026 at 4:47 pm ET By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear (D) said he still has concerns about Sen. Mitch McConnell’s ability to carry out the duties of his office following the Kentucky Republican’s return to the Senate last week after being hospitalized in June,” ABC News reports.

Said Beshear: “I still have concerns and I think anybody who actually watches the video has concerns, both for him and for the position.”

He added: “I still have concerns and I think anybody who actually watches the video has concerns, both for him and for the position. But this is what’s broken about the current Senate: they don’t think they work for anybody. I mean, Mitch McConnell was gone for three months, three months away from work, and wouldn’t tell his boss, which are the people of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.”

September 21, 2026 at 4:45 pm ET By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

“President Trump arrived Monday afternoon at Gracie Mansion for a meeting with New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani — making the first presidential visit to Hizzoner’s official residence since Ronald Reagan visited Ed Koch in 1981 to tout federal investments in a local roadway project,” the New York Post reports.

Said Trump: “I spent lots of hours there over the years, with some great Mayors, some average Mayors, and some bad Mayors. It will be interesting to see how it looks now, invited by Mayor Mamdani.”
