“Still with the benefit (or curse) of an inside perspective, I must say that the instability and chaos in our government the past few days has been particularly pronounced — worse than at any point during my service in Congress, and really, my lifetime. Things are not well in the USA.”
— Outgoing Rep. Carlos Curbelo (R-FL), on Twitter.
In recent weeks Rep. Carlos Curbelo (R-FL) “has been telling some Democrats in his district he would vote for Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump if those were his two choices,” CBS Miami reports.
Said Curbelo: “I think both Donald Trump and Mrs. Clinton are flawed candidates, if you look at the polls the majority of Americans have negative views on both of them. So I am going to wait and see what happens on our side, but I have already said I will not support Mr. Trump, that is not a political decision that is a moral decision.”
Rep. Carlos Curbelo (R-FL), “whose district saw two phony candidates run in a pair of elections before he took office, has taken to Spanish-language media to suggest that Donald Trump’s campaign could be a Democratic scheme to hurt the Republican Party,” the Miami Herald reports.
Said Curbelo: “I think there’s a small possibility that this gentleman is a phantom candidate. Mr. Trump has a close friendship with Bill and Hillary Clinton. They were at his last wedding. He has contributed to the Clintons’ foundation. He has contributed to Mrs. Clinton’s Senate campaigns. All of this is very suspicious.”
