Dinesh D’Souza told the Daily Caller that Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) was the major impetus behind his pardon by President Trump.
“D’Souza noted that he and his wife had dinner with Cruz approximately a month ago. At the dinner, the senator made clear he would push for a pardon during his conversations with President Donald Trump. D’Souza said he then received a call in recent days from Cruz, who told him Trump was very receptive to the pardon and that action could be coming imminently.”
President Trump announced he will give a “full pardon” to Dinesh D’Souza today, saying he was “treated very unfairly by our government!”
D’Souza pleaded guilty in 2014 to making illegal campaign donations.
“He goes, ‘Hey, man, what are you in for?’ I go, ‘Campaign-finance violation.’ He goes, ‘What the fuck does that mean?’”
— Dinesh D’Souza, quoted by Vanity Fair, on a conversation with his cellmate on his first night in prison for committing campaign fraud.
Conservative commentator Dinesh D’Souza decried Hillary Clinton’s “lawlessness” in a Skype interview from San Diego, California, where he is currently serving his eight month sentence in a “community confinement center” for violating campaign finance laws, Mediaite reports.
