Wyoming Secretary of State Quits

February 9, 2018 at 8:02 pm EST By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Wyoming Secretary of State Ed Murray (R) “announced his resignation late Friday afternoon, effective immediately,” the Casper Tribune reports.

Murray said he has been “devastated” by two recent accusations of sexual misconduct and that he is now “unable to focus entirely on serving the good people of Wyoming.”

Late last year, a woman accused Murray of “wrestling her to the office floor and ejaculating on her stomach” when she was an intern in his office.

A second woman has accused Wyoming Secretary of State Ed Murray (R) of sexual misconduct, the Casper Star Tribune reports.

“Theresa Sullivan Twiford said that nearly 30 years ago, when she was 18 years old and babysitting for the Murray family, Ed Murray forcibly kissed her in front of his house… Twiford, the daughter of former Wyoming governor Mike Sullivan, decided to share her experience following the allegation made last month by a Colorado woman. The woman, Tatiana Maxwell, said that Murray sexually assaulted her in the early 1980s.”

Murray, who was widely considered a front-runner in this year’s race to replace Gov. Matt Mead (R), said he will not seek re-election or seek higher office.

Seattle Mayor Resigns After 5th Child Molestation Claim

September 12, 2017 at 5:21 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard Leave a Comment

Seattle Mayor Ed Murray (D) resigned, “just hours after new allegations that he sexually abused a younger cousin decades ago in New York,” the Seattle Times reports.

Said Murray: “While the allegations against me are not true, it is important that my personal issues do not affect the ability of our City government to conduct the public’s business.”

“Murray ended his re-election bid earlier this year because of the scandal, but had staved off calls for his resignation before his term is completed this year.”

Seattle Post-Intelligencer: “For months, Murray has faced allegations that he sexually abused homeless boys he encountered decades ago. On Tuesday, Murray’s cousin Joseph Dyer levied similar allegations, saying he felt moved to act because of Murray’s treatment of his accusers.”
