“Special counsel Robert Mueller has requested an interview with Russian pop star Emin Agalarov, who helped set up the now infamous 2016 Trump Tower meeting,” NBC News reports.
Agalarov’s lawyer “did not elaborate on whether Mueller is also interested in speaking to Agalarov’s father, Aras Agalarov, a billionaire with ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin.”
Russian pop star Emin Agalarov, who arranged the infamous Trump Tower meeting in June 2016, told Vice News that he remembers speaking to Donald Trump Jr. before the meeting despite President Trump’s son not recalling the conversation in his testimony before Congress.
Agalarov told Trump that the people who wanted to meet with him “want something that could potentially help them resolve things that he could be interested in, or not.”
According to Agalarov, Trump immediately agreed to the meeting.
