Maryland Republicans Prefer Trump Over Hogan

A new Gonzales Research poll in Maryland finds Republicans overwhelmingly support President Trump in a hypothetical presidential primary match up with Gov. Larry Hogan (R), 68% to 24%.

This comes even as Hogan’s job approval rating among all Maryland voters is 76%, while Trump’s is 39%.

Grassroots Upheaval Shaking Maryland Democrats

“A grass-roots upheaval in Maryland’s Democratic Party has made it an unexpected showcase for national efforts by liberal activists and unions seeking to revitalize the party and push it to the left,” the Washington Post reports.

“Primary victories by progressives in three premier races — governor and county executive in Montgomery and Baltimore counties — have created a prominent testing ground for a new brand of Democratic politics, featuring ambitious and potentially expensive policy proposals and greater outreach to the working class.”

“Fueled by anger at President Trump and a sense that Democrats have lost touch with their base, the insurgency is stirring strife within the party, with some moderates already abandoning ship.”

A new Washington Post-University of Maryland poll finds Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) with a 71% approval rating in the overwhelmingly Democratic state, driven by his outspoken disavowal of GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump.

Trump Way Ahead In Maryland

A new Public Policy Polling survey in Maryland finds Donald Trump leading the GOP presidential race with 43%, followed by John Kasich at 29%, and Ted Cruz at 24%.

On the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton looks to be headed for a resounding victory over Bernie Sanders, 58% to 33%.

Hogan Says He Has an Aggressive Form of Cancer

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) announced that he has been diagnosed with “a very advanced and very aggressive” form of cancer, the Washington Post reports.

“Hogan had been feeling ill since returning from a trade mission in Asia nearly two weeks ago, forcing him to cancel numerous meetings and public appearances last week.”
