Hillary Clinton is backing George Latimer (D) in his primary challenge of Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) later this month, NBC News reports.

“The primary between Bowman — a Black progressive member of the self-described ‘Squad’ of young lawmakers who have won House seats in the last six years — and Latimer, the 70-year-old Westchester County executive, has exposed deep divisions in the Democratic Party and fueled intrigue ahead of this month’s election.”

A new Emerson College Polling/PIX11/The Hill survey of New York’s 16th congressional district finds George Latimer (D) leading Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) in the Democratic primary, 48% to 31% with 21% still undecided.

“The United Democracy Project, the AIPAC-affiliated super PAC, is launching an ad blitz on Thursday against Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) and in support of his primary opponent, Westchester County Executive George Latimer, beginning its long-anticipated campaign against the endangered Squad member,” Jewish Insider reports.

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee “is expected to launch its first ads in the coming weeks against its next top target this cycle: Rep. Jamaal Bowman in New York’s 16th Congressional District,” The Intercept reports.

“AIPAC planned to spend at least $100 million this cycle to oust members of the Squad, who have led calls for a ceasefire in Gaza and an end to U.S. military support for Israel. The lobby group’s threat would make it the largest player in the Democratic Party primary season.”

“The group, however, has now distanced itself from the pledge after one of its top targets, Rep. Summer Lee (D-PA) won her primary last week.”

“Rep. Jamaal Bowman, an outspoken Israel critic, has made calls to end the war in Gaza a central theme of his House primary near New York City. His opponent, Westchester County Executive George Latimer, is backed by pro-Israel groups and has largely sided with the country through the conflict,” Politico reports.

“But the ongoing humanitarian disaster in Gaza, and events like the killing of World Central Kitchen relief workers, are changing the dynamics of the race — testing the limits of Democratic support from even a stalwart backer of the Israeli government.”

Westchester County Executive George Latimer (D) will announce a primary challenge of Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) before departing on “a solidarity trip” to Israel on November 26, Jewish Insider reports.

Jamaal Bowman has defeated House Foreign Affairs Chair Eliot Engel in New York’s 16th congressional district’s Democratic primary, which took place on June 23, Axios reports.

A new Data for Progress poll in New York’s 16th congressional district finds Jamaal Bowman (D) leading Rep. Elliot Engel (D) in their Democratic congressional primary race, 41% to 31% with 27% still not sure.
