King Says Obama Filling Country with Terrorists

November 20, 2015 at 1:22 pm EST By Taegan Goddard 133 Comments

Rep. Steve King (R-IA) told the Boston Herald that President Obamap’s upbringing in Indonesia has given him an entirely different idea of what America should be like.

Said King: “We just should remember that, when — where we grew up is — when we were in our grade school that’s when the world was right and we tend to want to recreate that idyllic scene in our adulthood thinking that’s the best thing for America. And in my case, it is. I grew up with Fun with Dick and Jane. Wonderful. But you know, while I was going on, he was going to a school in Indonesia, so his idea of America is entirely different than the idea that most Americans have of what we ought to be like, and he’s filling our country up with people that will continue to attack us.”

“Something about that statement didn’t seem very… accurate. But hey, this is an elected member of the U.S. Congress, responsible for crafting the nation’s laws. So Starting Line decided to do a little fact-checking of our own on this topic. That’s right, I actually tried to marry my lawnmower.”

April 25, 2015 at 7:57 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 13 Comments

Rep. Steve King (R-IA) “proposed a bill this week that would block the courts from hearing cases that could legalize same-sex marriage, so Rep. Jared Polis (D-CO) has proposed a (satirical) bill to block King from legislating,” the Huffington Post reports.

“Polis’ office issued a press release on Friday announcing the Restrain Steve King from Legislating Act, playing off King’s Restrain the Judges on Marriage Act. Polis’ fake bill would prevent King from ‘abusing taxpayer dollars by substituting the judgments of the nation’s duly serving judicial branch of government with his own beliefs.'”

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Rep. Steve King (R-IA) “have quietly forged a personal friendship and powerful political alliance—one that helped derail immigration reform in the 113th Congress and that could give Cruz a critical boost in the 2016 presidential race,” National Journal reports.

“Recently elected to his seventh term, King is beloved by Iowa’s conservative community and wields considerable influence in the early nominating state. His endorsement, as in past presidential cycles, will be among the most sought-after in Iowa ahead of the state’s January 2016 caucuses.”
