Rep. Steve King (R-IA) said he didn’t think South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R) was a “principled conservative” but thought she’d be an acceptable figurehead for the Republican party, TPM reports.
Said King: “I think she’s beautiful so I’d be happy if she’s the face of the party.”
Rep. Steve King (R-IA) told the Boston Herald that President Obamap’s upbringing in Indonesia has given him an entirely different idea of what America should be like.
Said King: “We just should remember that, when — where we grew up is — when we were in our grade school that’s when the world was right and we tend to want to recreate that idyllic scene in our adulthood thinking that’s the best thing for America. And in my case, it is. I grew up with Fun with Dick and Jane. Wonderful. But you know, while I was going on, he was going to a school in Indonesia, so his idea of America is entirely different than the idea that most Americans have of what we ought to be like, and he’s filling our country up with people that will continue to attack us.”

“You could marry your lawnmower with this decision,” Rep. Steve King (R-IA) said last week about the recent Supreme Court ruling on gay marriage, Iowa Starting Line reports.

House Republicans are talking about abolishing birthright citizenship, which grants automatic citizenship to any baby born on American soil, Dana Millbank reports.
“A House Judiciary subcommittee took up the question Wednesday afternoon, prompted by legislation sponsored by Rep. Steve King (R-IA) and 22 other lawmakers that, after nearly 150 years, would end automatic citizenship.”
Rep. Steve King (R-IA) “proposed a bill this week that would block the courts from hearing cases that could legalize same-sex marriage, so Rep. Jared Polis (D-CO) has proposed a (satirical) bill to block King from legislating,” the Huffington Post reports.

“Tea Party Rep. Steve King (R-IA) equated the attack ads to GOP ‘cannibalism,’ while his conservative colleague Rep. Matt Salmon (R-AZ) called them a ‘stupid’ tactic that would backfire.”
Rep. Steve King (R-IA), a leading conservative opponent of President Obama’s executive action on immigration, said Speaker John Boehner’s office canceled funding at the last-minute for what he called “a very important diplomatic mission,” CNN reports.
“That came after King and a group of about 50 Republicans opposed Boehner’s eleventh-hour attempt to fund the Department of Homeland Security without rolling back the executive order.”
Said King: “He’s currently throwing tantrums. This is retribution on the highest scale.”
Rep. Steve King (R-IA) told MSNBC that he has kept a list of between 12 and 16 “prominent” Republicans who have made attacks against him, especially over the immigration issue.
