“Unable to untangle his complex financial holdings to the satisfaction of the Office of Government Ethics, Cubs board member Todd Ricketts, tapped by President Trump to be the Deputy Commerce Secretary, withdrew his nomination,” the Chicago Sun-Times has learned.
Trouble Brewing for Another Trump Nominee
Four sources familiar with the matter told CBS News that Deputy Commerce Secretary nominee Todd Ricketts has run into significant difficulties separating himself from financial ties as part of Office of Government Ethics requirements.
“The requirements and difficulty of divesting from family business ties could force Ricketts to withdraw his nomination. That move, the sources said, could come as early as Wednesday.”
