Taylor Kenney (R), a onetime contender for Virginia’s competitive 7th congressional district, said that she is no longer running after recently approved redistricting maps reshaped the district and moved it north, the AP reports.

The district is currently represented by Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-VA), who announced a day earlier that she would seek reelection under the new boundaries.

Virginia state Sen. Amanda Chase (R), a top supporter of former President Donald Trump, formally announced that she will seek the party’s nomination for Congress in the 7th District to run against Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D), the Richmond Times-Dispatch reports.

Blue Virginia has audio of Rep. Dave Brat (R-VA) explaining to a constituent how Republican leaders “lie all the time.”

Said Brat: “The problem is we’ve lied. Both of our leaders…Paul Ryan’s a nice guy, but he said he was going to repeal Obamacare. That’s a lie. It was not a repeal at all. And so, we lie all the time.”

He added: “Everybody wants to go back to like the 50s when people were sane. But I don’t think so. It’s a war right now.”

A new Wason Center poll in Virginia’s 7th congressional district finds challenger Abigail Spanberger (D) just ahead of Rep. Dave Brat (R), 46% to 45% among likely voters.

In a second model, restricted to the most committed voters, Spanberger has a 3-point lead, 48% to 45%.

A new Monmouth poll finds Abigail Spanberger (D) holds a narrow lead over Rep. Dave Brat (R-VA) in Virginia’s 7th congressional district, 47% to 42% among registered voters.

“The Democrat’s lead narrows when applying two different likely voter models. A historical midterm model shows a tie at 47% for Spanberger and 47% for Brat. A model that projects a possible turnout surge in Democratic precincts gives Spanberger a slight lead of 48% to 45%. The margin of the lead in these voter models is not statistically significant.”
