August 10, 2025 · 4:00 pm ET · Leave a Comment

“The FBI has taken the unusual step of dispatching as many as 120 of its agents to help local law enforcement prevent carjackings and violent crime in Washington, as President Donald Trump threatens a federal takeover of the nation’s capital,” the Washington Post reports.

“Trump, who plans a news conference at the White House on Monday on this topic, compared the forthcoming action against D.C. crime to his administration’s aggressive crackdown against illegal immigration at the southern border, saying on Sunday that he plans to ‘immediately clear out the city’s homeless population and take swift action against crime.’”

August 6, 2025 · 6:57 am ET · Leave a Comment

Edward Coristine, the 19-year-old known as “Big Balls” who played a key role in the DOGE initiative to shrink the size of government, was assaulted over the weekend in Washington, Politico reports.

President Trump posted a photo on his social media platform showing a shirtless Coristine with what appeared to be blood spattered on his face, body and pants.

Said Trump: “If D.C. doesn’t get its act together, and quickly, we will have no choice but to take Federal control of the City, and run this City how it should be run, and put criminals on notice that they’re not going to get away with it anymore.”

July 24, 2025 · 5:55 pm ET · Leave a Comment

“President Donald Trump’s Justice Department sued New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ administration in federal court Thursday, alleging the city’s ‘sanctuary’ policies interfere with the enforcement of federal immigration law,” Politico reports.

“The lawsuit represents the latest clash between the Trump administration and Democratic-controlled cities and states over immigration policy — and perhaps a final blow to the president’s mercurial relationship with Adams, one that’s frayed in recent months following a short-lived alliance.”

Mamdani’s Win Spotlights Deepening Rift Among Jews

New York Times: “Zohran Mamdani’s success in the city with the largest Jewish population in the world offered the starkest evidence yet that outspoken opposition to Israel and its government — and even questioning its existence as a Jewish state — is increasingly acceptable to broader swaths of the party, even in areas where pro-Israel Jews have long been a bedrock part of the Democratic coalition.”

Schwarzenegger Slams Media Depicting L.A. as ‘War Zone’

June 13, 2025 · 10:30 am ET · Leave a Comment

Former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger disputed news media rhetoric that “the whole of Los Angeles is a war zone” as Donald Trump deploys troops around the city, Deadline reports.

Said Schwarzenegger: “I totally agree with you, by the way, Jimmy, because they make it out like it is a war zone — the whole Los Angeles — the whole city or the county. And the fact of the matter is it’s maybe like 0.001% of the area of Los Angeles has problems and there’s a protest.”

Trump Says He Might Deploy Military to Other Cities

President Trump warned that he would send troops into other cities in the U.S. should rioting and disorder similar to that seen in Los Angeles break out, and with “greater force,” Newsweek reports.

Trump called the deployment of National Guard troops in California “the first, perhaps, of many.”

He added: “You know, we didn’t attack this one very strongly. You’ll have them all over the country. I can inform the rest of the country that when they do it, if they do it, they’re going to be met with equal or greater force than we met right here.”

Playbook: “Having spent the weekend musing about space travel — and largely avoiding politics — Musk threw himself foursquare behind the Trump administration last night as the Los Angeles ICE protests descended into violent chaos.”

“Musk loyally reposted messages from VP JD Vance and from Trump himself, with his own interventions all American flag emojis and anti-protester messaging. It’s the latest sign that the uneasy truce between the world’s richest man and the world’s most powerful politician is holding — kind of — for now.”

Los Angeles Protests Stretch Into Third Night

June 9, 2025 · 1:57 am ET · Leave a Comment

“Standoffs between protesters and law-enforcement officers in downtown Los Angeles escalated Sunday night, capping a tense day in which demonstrators, police, rubber bullets and helicopters overran a neighborhood that is home to City Hall and federal buildings,” the Wall Street Journal reports.

“During a third day of demonstrations opposing federal immigration operations in a city with a large immigrant population, mounted police galloped by on horses and law enforcement used tear gas to move crowds. Protesters covered the neighborhood in graffiti that said “FUCK ICE,” set at least five Waymo driverless taxis on fire, and threw rocks and water bottles at officers.”
