A new Mason-Dixon poll in Florida’s 27th congressional district finds Maria Elvira Salazar (R) edging Donna Shalala (D) by two points, 44% to 42% with 13% undecided.
Politico: “The big factor: Hispanics, who account for 57 percent of the voters and who came to know Salazar relatively well over her three decades broadcasting on Spanish language networks Telemundo, Univision, Mega-TV and CNN Español.”
Also important: “Shalala doesn’t speak Spanish, and Democrats have faulted her campaign for months for being so slow-footed that it was in ‘sleep mode.’”
