“The House is slated to vote Wednesday afternoon on whether to immediately consider articles of impeachment against Donald Trump, the first barometer of efforts to remove the president by the Democrat-led House,” Politico reports.
Playbook: “There are three options here: The House can vote to table the motion, which would set it aside; the House could send it to the Judiciary Committee, which would also set it aside, but give Judiciary the option to take it up; or vote up or down to impeach the president. We assume the House will either move to table or send to Judiciary.”
“Sending it to Judiciary would be the easiest, politically, because it could be spun as doing something when in reality it’s doing nothing. It’s not yet clear what path they’ll take.”
