In Marquette Law School polling this year, party identification is dead even, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports:
- 29% of voters identify as Democrats, 29% as Republicans
- 16% lean Democratic, 16% lean Republican
- 8% are independent
The bottom line: Biden’s small lead over Trump of 2 to 3 points comes from the leaners. He gets 15% of Republican leaners, while Trump gets just 6% of Democratic leaners.
